Stony Brook University (in New York) has prevailed in a lawsuit brought against the school by the Non-Human Rights Project on behalf of two chimpanzees “held captive” by the school
A judge dismissed the case after the state assistant attorney general successfully argued that the chimps can’t be granted “non-human personhood status” because “they cannot fulfill the responsibilities of people in society.”
