A Keystone XL pipeline in Landrieu, Louisiana was in the works to connect Canada to America. Many environmentalists are against the bill for it because of the fear to leave tar sands all over the city. The majority of senators agreed to reject the bill. In doing so they are losing out of the opportunity to send oil easily from Canada as opposed to the Middle East. The other benefit would to give construction jobs to those building the pipeline.
