A satanist group in Arizona has applied to lead a “prayer” at the start of a local city council meeting – but now politicians are working to keep them from doing so.
– The Satanic Temple filed a request to open the February meeting of the Phoenix City Council with a prayer. (The current council rules allow for anyone to put in a request but there is no religious connection to the invocation. A group of this type has never asked for the privilege before.)
– I wonder if simply changing the laws (to an invite from a Council member only) is the most effective way to stop this from happening?
